When you are a speaker you have multiple tools to convey your message in addition to the words that you are saying. One of your most powerful tools is your body. With body language you have so many options at your disposal: posture, facial expressions, your position on the stage, gestures. Direct eye contact with audiences can connect you with them and convey your sincerity; changing sides of the stage when you present two opposing sides of an argument can highlight the contrast. These are just a couple of examples. What is your objective: Is it to entertain? to motivate? to persuade? Purposeful body language will enhance your impact on your audience. Body language techniques can be learned, practiced and implemented, enabling you to speak confidently and convincingly.
Bamberg Toastmasters will be holding a workshop on this very subject. The workshop is for our club members and open to the public. It will be an interactive workshop that will be suitable for all levels.
After the 1 hour workshop everyone is invited to watch Toastmasters from clubs around Franconia compete in a speech competition. You’ll get to see what you just learned in action.
