Our New Year’s resolution
Dear readers of the Bamberg Toastmasters blog,
we hope you had a wonderful New Year’s party. Some of you probably made some New Year’s resolutions. Are you still pursuing them? Maybe cutting down on your use of the internet was one of them? In an age of constant availability it sounds quite tempting. Just imagine: being offline for a certain amount of time during the day and enjoying the non-virtual, real life. The fact that you are reading this blog post, however, shows that you’re probably not so good at keeping your resolutions. Well, it’s the dose that makes the poison as the saying goes.
The dangers of the internet
There are a lot of dangers lurking online – fake news, too many cat pictures, strange memes and even more cat pictures –, but there are also some hidden treasures that can be found in the depths of the internet. Yes, there are plenty of gems to be discovered and enjoyed.
Even the attempt of an online scam can be entertaining. You don’t believe us? You don’t have to. Just listen to British Comedian James Veitch. Who dared to answer a spam mail from his inbox. The consequences are absoluetly delightful.
Our next meeting
Our own New Year’s resolution is to present you a funny, entertaining or moving speech once a week that we found on the internet. And if you want to exercise your own public speaking skills and have lots of fun, come to one of our Bamberg Toastmasters meetings. The next one is on Monday, January, 22nd at 7.30 pm at Stadtteilzentrum Starkenfeld, Katzheimerstr. 3, 96050 Bamberg.
And now enjoy James Veitchs hilariously funny speech!
